Northeast Christian Church

Our Beliefs

The leadership of Northeast Christian Church understands there is room for differing opinions even among Christians. For those who might be searching for a church home and to remove confusion in our ever changing world, we publicly declare our beliefs.

God

There is one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and each possesses all of the attributes of God. God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it.

Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:26-27 - Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image..."

Psalm 90:2 - ...from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Matthew 28:19 - ...baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 13:14 - May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ... be with you all.

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is one with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is our Savior, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for all sin, and was raised from the grave after three days to demonstrate His defeat of sin and death.

John 1:1-5 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 - ...that Christ died for our sins... that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day.

Hebrews 4:14-15 - ...we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God.

Acts 1:9-11 - ...This same Jesus... will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is one with God the Father and Jesus Christ. Those who accept Christ as their Savior will receive the Holy Spirit to live inside them. The Holy Spirit serves as our comforter, guide and advocate.

John 14:16-17 - ...and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.

Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you...

Galatians 5:25 - Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Scripture

Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible Scriptures as our final authority on Christian beliefs and as the guide to living. The Bible Scriptures are divinely inspired by God, without error.

2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching...

2 Peter 1:20-21 - ...prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 119:105 - Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Humanity

All people are made in the image of God and were created to live the adventure of following Jesus Christ. Every human life, from conception to natural death, is sacred and of immeasurable value.

Genesis 1:27 - So God created mankind in his own image...

Psalm 139:13-16 - ...your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book...

Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Salvation

Salvation is not something that can be purchased or earned. It is a free gift from God provided by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and is received through faith.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son...

Ephesians 2:8-10 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith...

Acts 4:12 - Salvation is found in no one else...

Eternity

People were created to exist forever. Every person will either exist eternally in union with God in heaven or be eternally separated from God in hell.

John 14:2-3 - I am going there to prepare a place for you... I will come back and take you to be with me.

Revelation 20:11-15 - ...Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Marriage and Sexuality

God designed marriage as a life long sacred covenant between one man and one woman. Sexual intimacy is a gift from God to be enjoyed only within this marriage relationship.

Genesis 2:18-25 - That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Hebrews 13:4 - Marriage should be honored by all...

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 - ...that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable.

God offers forgiveness, healing, and restoration to everyone who turns to Him in repentance and faith through Jesus Christ. (1 John 1:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17)
